I would love to become a fitness instructor, but I don't have the "body" of one?
I have struggled with my weight for as long as I can remember. I fluctuate a lot, but had packed on 80 lbs 2 yrs ago and was diagnosed with Metabolic Syndrome and am following low glycemic diet as well as exercising 5 times a week. I have dropped 30lbs and am still going slowly but steady. I really enjoy low impact exercises such as walking, elliptical, toning, pilates and tai chi. I am not into the heavy stuff. But I really enjoy the excercises I do and thought how much I would enjoy being an instructor, but I DO NOT have the body of a trainer/instructor and even after I lose teh weight I am sure I would need a little nip tuck. I just don't know if in this business you have to look a certain way to be an example for your clients? I am confident that I can and will get back to my healthy weight but as far as being a hard body....don't know if it can happen for me
Ive went to the YMCA before and my class instructor was NOT rock hard body at all. I thought it was nice because her body looked more like mine and it made me feel less uncomfortable. The only thing is though, is that alot of people go to classes and see the instructor as motivation. Basically, if you continue the class and stay dilligent , you will end up looking like them. Its hard to say how it would work for you. If you did something at a community gym like the YMCA it would probably be better. good luck!
